Early reviews: 3-on-3 OT is pure mayhem

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Jason Garrison skated toward the boards after his overtime goal Thursday night, put his arms in the air and gestured with his hands to the crowd as if to say, “Let me hear you roar.”

Early reviews of the first 3-on-3 overtime game in NHL history show that, yes, the masses were entertained.

“The buzz all over the building (Thursday) night was intense,” Eric DuBose of Plant City, a Lightning season-ticket holder since 2005, said of Tampa Bay’s season-opening 3-2 victory against Philadelphia.

“One of my friends said, ‘My heart stopped for three minutes.
