Brayden Point makes Lightning roster

The Lightning set its final roster for Thursday's opener, and there are a few surprises.

Forward prospect Brayden Point, 20, made the team, even with star Nikita Kucherov signing a three-year deal today. Point has been impressive in training camp, with three preseason goals, but would seem to be a better fit in a top line role in AHL Syracuse vs a bottom-six role in Tampa Bay.

The Lightning also reassigned Erik Condra, Cory Conacher and Joel Vermin to Syracuse. All three cleared waivers at noon today.

Tampa Bay will have 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies, one shy of the 23-player limit.
