MONTREAL — A low-scoring, goaltending-duel started the second round of the postseason for the Lightning.
That advantage went to Tampa Bay in a 2-1 double-overtime victory in front of a sold out crowd at Bell Centre.
Nikita Kucherov scored the winner 2:06 into the second overtime on his first goal of the postseason to give Tampa Bay a 1-0 series lead.
Game 2 is Sunday at Bell Centre.
The game marked the fifth multiple-overtime game in Lightning history and first since Game 4 vs. Pittsburgh in the opening round in 2011.
