TAMPA — A recent power surge with the man-advantage has catapulted the Lightning’s power play to within reach of the top spot in the Stanley Cup playoff rankings.
After scoring just twice in their first 34 opportunities, a 5.9 percent success rate, the Lightning have scored on 11 of their past 26 power play chances, a 40.3 percent rate. Overall, the power play has converted at 21.7 percent in the postseason.
Of the four teams remaining in the playoffs, only Anaheim at 30 percent entering’s Tuesday night’s game 2 of the Western Conference finals, is scoring power play goals at a better pace.
