Bolts notes: Goaltender rotation helps keep Bishop fresh

TAMPA — Ben Bishop never wants to take a game off.

But he now understands why it’s important to have his workload reduced a little bit.

Since Andrei Vasilevskiy returned from a blood clot that sidelined him for two months, the starts have been alternated between Vasilevskiy and Bishop.

While Bishop gets the nod tonight against Calgary, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said a plan for the next couple of weeks has been mapped out as to who will be starting and indicated it would not remain on an every-other-game schedule.

One of the reasons for splitting up the starting duties is to ensure Bishop — who started the first eight games of the season and 11 of the first 12 — remains rested and fresh.
