Tampa Bay Lightning
BRANDON — Steve Yzerman spent 27 years in the Detroit organization as a player and an executive, so it’s no surprise that the Lightning GM expects churning emotions when the puck drops for Game 1 against the Red Wings Thursday night.
“Yeah, I’d prefer to play other teams,’’ Yzerman said after Wednesday’s practice. “Obviously, I have tremendous respect for the organization, top to bottom. They have been one of the elite franchises in professional sports for a long time and continue to be, and will continue beyond this year.
“So, I have great admiration for them and I expect it should be good hockey.
