Bolts coach not declaring Callahan out for tonight's game

TAMPA — Lightning coach Jon Cooper said it would be premature to declare Ryan Callahan out for Tuesday night’s playoff game, despite the forward’s emergency appendectomy.

Callahan’s procedure was performed at Tampa General Hospital Monday evening and Cooper said the veteran winger is doing well.

“He’s feeling really good,’’ Cooper said after Tampa Bay practiced in preparation for the Eastern Conference semifinal playoff game against Montreal at Amalie Arena. “The way medical practices are today, it’s much easier to come back from them than in the past. We got to it before anything really bad could have happened.
