TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning honored Blake Twedt as the 19th Lightning Community Hero of the 2015-16 season during the first period of tonight’s game versus the New York Rangers. Twedt, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, will donate the money to The Salvation Army.
Twedt has been directly involved with The Salvation Army Tampa for the past 15 years and an advisory board member since 2011. His works exemplify putting the needs of others over his own by establishing two projects that have greatly impacted the homeless in Tampa Bay: the Tampa Bay Harvest Sustainable Living Project (SLP) and Our Daily Bread Tampa Bay (ODBTB).
