WR swap: Bucs bring up Donteea Dye, waive Adam Humphries

OCTAVIO JONES | Times

TAMPA — The Bucs added speed to their receiving corps Monday, dropping one undrafted rookie in favor of another, with Adam Humphries getting waived and Donteea Dye of Division III Heidelberg University called up to the 53-man roster.

Dye, who was among the team's final cuts, could be active Sunday (vs. Jaguars, 1 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium, Ch. 10) as the No. 4 receiver if Russell Shepard hasn't recovered from the hamstring injury that sidelined him during Sunday's loss to the Panthers. Dye has taken the long road to the NFL, getting a look at as a tryout player at rookie minicamp, getting signed as an undrafted rookie, missing the cut and earning a spot on the practice squad and now being promoted to the active roster.
