Time away could help not just Jameis Winston's shoulder

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston didn't look like the franchise quarterback praised for his leadership ability on national TV this summer in HBO's "Hard Knocks."

Against the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Winston was involved in a third-quarter melee that resulted in him vacating his spot on the sideline and tapping Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore on his back. Winston said to him, "Go back to your sideline," inciting Lattimore to push him. Then Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans came barreling into Lattimore from behind. Evans said he was just "protecting his quarterback."

"That's not the Jameis Winston that I know," head coach Dirk Koetter said.
