TAMPA — Sometimes it's okay to be Burger King. Avis makes money, too. WingHouse needs pitchers.

So really, Ryan Griffin was perfectly content with becoming the Bucs' No. 2 quarterback behind Jameis Winston.

And when the Bears backed up a Brink's truck to Mike Glennon's house, signing him to a three-year, $45 million contract in March, Griffin was in line after two seasons in Tampa Bay to sit directly behind Winston on the depth chart.

Then one day, he just became the second quarterback named Ryan.

Maybe the Bucs got cold feet or sensed that because Griffin had never taken a snap in a regular-season NFL game, they needed more experience, but the signing of vagabond veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick could not have been welcome news.
