Mike Evans sees Pro Bowl as 'popularity contest;' surprised he got voted in

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans was thrilled to learn Tuesday night that he had been named to his first Pro Bowl. But he also admitted he was a little surprised.

"It's more of popularity contest," Evans said, acknowledging that it often takes time for players to gain recognition early on in their careers. Sometimes the votes don't roll in when a player has a breakout year, but rather the following year or even two years later.

"If it came down to votes, I don't think I'd be in the top four," Evans added.
