The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted quarterback Kyle Trask in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Florida product was obviously not going to start right away, as Tom Brady had just led the team to a Super Bowl victory, but he was in line to be the heir to the throne.
Unfortunately, he did not develop at the rate that the front office or coaching staff thought he would. So, when Brady retired, the Bucs went out to sign Baker Mayfield to be their starter instead, subjecting Trask to a backup role once again.
Trask was solid in the Bucs' first preseason game, but then he put together a really rough performance last week.
