The Buccaneers’ release of Kyle Trask has an unexpected ripple effect, opening the door for rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka to make a uniform change.
No. 2, the jersey number he’s worn since high school and again at the end of his Ohio State career, is now suddenly available in Tampa Bay.
If Egbuka wants to make the swap, he’ll have to act quickly before the season kicks off. Per NFL rules as of 2021, he would need to buy out the remaining unsold stock of his No. 9 jerseys before becoming eligible for the switch.
