Doug Martin has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing drugs, the NFL and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today.
Martin will be entering a treatment facility and released a statement apologizing to the fans and team. There is some overlap between the PED policy and recreational drugs.
“On the field, I must be strong and determined to push through both pain and injuries to become an elite NFL running back," the statement reads in part." Off the field, I have tried that same approach in my personal life. My shortcomings in this area have taught me both that I cannot win these personal battles alone and that there is no shame in asking for help.
