TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to give defensive lineman Da’Quan Bowers yet another chance to prove he was worth the 51st pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
With defensive tackle Akeem Spence nursing an ankle injury that could keep him out of their game against St. Louis on Thursday, the Bucs brought Bowers back into the fold on Monday.
Bowers initially spent four seasons with the Bucs, playing in 50 games with 10 starts, but he struggled with injuries and his fitness and never played up to the team’s draft-day expectations.
For his career, Bowers has recorded 66 tackles, including 18 for a loss, seven sacks, six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
