Cameron Brate is beating out Austin Seferian-Jenkins in Buccaneers training camp

Dirk Koetter keeps dropping nuggets of roster details after training camp practices. Today: tight end Cameron Brate is on top of the depth chart, for now. That means he’s ahead of Luke Stocker, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Brandon Myers right now, after a decent 2015 season.

While Brate being on top of the depth chart is good for him, it has to be disappointing overall. Brate is a consistent receiver, but he lacks the explosiveness and stature to be a true receiving threat, or a good blocker. While Koetter said he’s improved as a blocker, according to Rick Stroud, he has some physical limitations.
