Bucs signed general manager Jason Licht to a new five year deal

TAMPA u2015 In so many ways, head coach Bruce Arians and general manager Jason Licht are a package deal for the Bucs.

It’s unlikely they could’ve added one without keeping the other.

A few days after hiring Arians, the team signed Licht to a new five-year contract, including a club option for 2023.

Licht, 48, has a 27-53 record in five seasons with the Bucs. That includes a 9-7 mark in 2016, the only winning season during his tenure in Tampa Bay that has produced no playoff appearances.

Terms of the contract are undisclosed, but it’s clear that without Licht remaining as GM, the Bucs may have had a tougher time talking the 66-year-old Arians out of retirement.
