TAMPA - For longer than he’s been a Tampa Bay Buccaneer, running back Doug Martin has been known as the “Muscle Hamster.’’ And for longer than he’s been a Buc, Martin has hated that nickname.
No matter what he does, though, he can’t seem to shake it. But that doesn’t keep him from trying.
Martin’s latest attempt to rid himself of the nickname he was given by his college teammates at Boise State came this week when he dubbed himself the “Dougernaut’’ and asked everyone else to follow suit.
“Yeah, that’s the nickname I’m going with,” Martin said.
