TAMPA — Bucs players and coaches all stood together on the sidelines for Sunday's national anthem before Tampa Bay's home game against the New York Giants.
A week earlier, Bucs receivers Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson had kneeled in protest during the anthem before the Bucs' game at the Vikings, each with a hand on their hearts. That came two days after Pr esident Donald Trump had made comments that NFL players protesting should be fired, even calling them a "son of a b----."
The NFL protests during the national anthem have been a major news story, but Evans and Jackson went back to standing with teammates — Evans stood next to quarterback Jameis Winston and head coach Dirk Koetter as a choir sang the anthem.
