Bucs Notes: McDaniel intrigued by team's chances

TAMPA — It’s not that DT Tony McDaniel is tired of playing for championship-caliber teams. That never gets old.

But when the Seahawks let McDaniel go in a salary-cap dump nine days ago, the 10-year NFL veteran suddenly became intrigued by the opportunity to help turn around a struggling franchise.

That and a nudge from none other than former Buccaneers DE Michael Bennett is why McDaniel says he passed on the contract offers he received from at least a dozen other teams and chose to sign a one-year deal with the Bucs on Tuesday.

“Yeah, Michael played a part in (my decision),’’ McDaniel said after his first workout at One Buc Place.
