TAMPA — Three-and-a-half games into the 2017 preseason, the Bucs still hadn't thrown a single touchdown pass. Thursday night, they weren't even close.
With Jameis Winston and 36 others on the sideline held out of the final preseason game against Washington, Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled to move the chains, playing until the final two minutes of the half and finishing 2-for-7 for 6 yards.
It has been at least 18 years since the Bucs went an entire preseason without a touchdown pass.
