Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are fortunate to have their franchise quarterback in Baker Mayfield. The New Orleans Saints can't say the same thing. Since Drew Brees retired following a loss to the Bucs in the NFC Divisional Round in early 2021, the Saints have struggled to find a consistent signal-caller, rotating through names like Derek Carr, Trevor Siemian, and Jameis Winston.
New Orleans tried to find its own franchise quarterback in this year's draft, spending a second-round pick on Louisville's Tyler Shough. This was a pretty stunning move considering Shough was not expected to be drafted that high plus he's 26 years old, which is ancient for a rookie.
