Jason La Canfora, citing league sources, reports that the Buccaneers are exploring a new contract for WR MIke Evans.
According to La Canfora, the two parties are still in the “very early” stages of negotiations but dialogue has taken place, even though Evans has another two years remaining on his rookie contract.
One reason for discussing a deal this early for Evans could be to get an agreement in place before the Giants address Odell Beckham‘s contract, which is widely expected to be the new high water mark when completed.
As of now, La Canfora says that neither side is approaching this situation with a sense of urgency.
