The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived safety Isaiah Johnson, the team announced today. The Bucs promoted him from the practice squad earlier this year to compensate for injuries at the safety position, but all of the Bucs’ are healthy now—if not necessarily playing great football.
It’s not clear who the Bucs want to add to replace Johnson, but getting an extra defensive end or cornerback on the roster would make a lot of sense given the team’s injuries and lack of depth at those positions.
One option would be a trade, given the fact that the trade deadline is approaching.
