Buccaneers sign safety J.J. Wilcox

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms with safety J.J. Wilcox, as first reported by Steve Duemig of 620 WDAE. Wilcox visited the Bucs yesterday and apparently that went well enough.

Wilcox is mostly a hard-hitting box safety who works best as a part-time player. He played in just over 50% of the defensive snaps for the Dallas Cowboys last year, after losing his starting job the year before.

The Bucs re-signed Chris Conte just before the start of free agency and still have Keith Tandy on the roster, three safeties who probably each work best in a rotation, though Tandy is most likely to get a full-time starting job.
