Bryan Anger named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Bryan Anger has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. Anger had five punts in that game, all of them landing inside the 20-yard line, a crucial part of the Bucs’ 17-16 win.

Angers’ performance was typical for the way he has played all season long. He’s third in the league in punts inside the 20-yard line, and fourth in net punting average. Anger was named a Pro Bowl alternate, and was rewarded with a five-year, $17 million contract extension just last week.

In fact, Anger has been one of the Bucs’ most consistent performers this season, with almost no shanked punts, giving the defense plenty of cushion to play with and helping the Bucs win field position, which is how they’ve won most of their games this season.
