Why did Syracuse football attempt onside kick so early? (3 things Dino Babers said)

Tallahassee, Fla. -- For the second time this season, Syracuse football coach Dino Babers opted for an onside kick during a single-possession game with a decent amount of time left in the fourth quarter.

Against North Carolina State, Babers called for the specialty kick with 4:39 left and one timeout remaining. The Wolfpack recovered the kick and ran out the clock. Afterward, some fans questioned if N.C. State's play-calling might been more conservative if it had been pinned deep.

The Wolfpack had already scored 35 points in that game, and their offense was functioning extremely well.

Against the Seminoles, Babers called for the play with 2:54 remaining and Syracuse owning three timeouts.
