Why 3-star JUCO DB DuWayne Johnson chose Syracuse football

Syracuse, N.Y. - DuWayne Johnson's bond with the Syracuse football coaching staff was built during an official visit last October.

He sat down face-to-face with head coach Dino Babers. He broke down film of the Orange's Tampa-2 scheme with assistants on the coaching staff. He felt at home.

That's why Johnson ultimately chose to sign with SU.

"It really came down to the coaching staff," Johnson said. "They played a big part in me ultimately deciding to come to Syracuse. They believed in me and that I could compete right away."

The 6-foot-2, 172-pound Johnson is slated to arrive for Summer Session II in July and will be available to play as a redshirt junior this fall.
