Sure, the Orange were expected to defeat their first three opponents of the FBS season, but now that they’re actually there courtesy of an impressive 30-27 win over Central Michigan, the feeling is awesome.
The last time ‘Cuse began a football season 3-0 was 1991 — the same year a cease fire ended the Persian Gulf War, the Giants defeated the Bills on a missed last-second field goal, and Nirvana released the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

It’s possible that a start like this would have bolstered a dismal 2014 campaign for the Orange, where early-season momentum might have helped a team that lost to NC State and Pittsburgh by a combined score of 54-24, and finished the season with a 3-9 record.
