SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Reserve quarterback Clayton Welch directed a dramatic Syracuse (3-4, 0-3 ACC) comeback but it was not enough and Pittsburgh (5-2, 2-1 ACC) defeated the Orange, 27-20, at the Dome.
Pittsburgh's nationally-ranked pass rush harassed Syracuse quarterbacks all evening and finished with nine quarterback sacks. Junior quarterback Kirby Pickett completed 18-of-33 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Panthers.
