Watch Jim Boeheim's news conference after Syracuse basketball vs. Virginia Tech

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Orange defense shut down one of the nation's top offenses with a 68-56 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday at the Carrier Dome.

The Hokies came into the game leading the nation in field-goal percentage (54.5) and ranked fourth in 3-point percentage (43.7) and sixth in scoring offense (91.3 ppg).

But the Hokies were no match for Syracuse's 2-3 zone defense. The Orange provided a jumble of tall bodies and long arms that was just too much for Virginia Tech.

The Hokies made just 34 percent of their field-goal attempts, going 18-for-52 from the field.
