Syracuse, N.Y. — If Syracuse somehow secures an invitation to the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the Orange could very well end up at the First Four in Dayton, Ohio.
The First Four involves eight teams. The four lowest-seeded teams will play for two 16 seeds and the chance to face the No. 1 seeds in two regions. Four other low-seeded at-large teams will be matched, with the winners also advancing.
This year, the final four at-large teams to make the field will be compared to the rest of the seeded teams and a determination will be made as to which of those teams will play in the First Four.
