COLUMBUS, Ohio – Syracuse kicker Andre Szmyt has been named the winner of the 2018 Vlade Award, presented annually by the Touchdown Club of Columbus to college football's most accurate kicker. The award is named for former Ohio State kicker Vlade Janakievski, who was one of the most accurate placekickers in Buckeye football history.
A 6-1, 195-pound redshirt freshman, Szmyt leads the FBS in field goals made (28), field goals attempted (32), field goals per game (2.33), and points per game (11.8). He is second the nation in scoring (141 points) and tied for eighth in the FBS in field-goal percentage (.
