SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Redshirt freshman placekicker Andre Szmyt can now add consensus All-American to his growing list of awards.

Szmyt was named a first-team All-American by both the Associated Press and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) on Monday, Dec. 10. Coupled with his selection to the Walter Camp All-America First Team last week, Szmyt has received first-team honors from three of the five NCAA-recognized selectors to earn the consensus distinction.

The 2018 Lou Groza Award winner as the nation's best kicker, Szmyt is the 20th consensus All-America selection in program history and the 18th Syracuse player to be so honored (Joe Alexander and Ernie Davis were two-time consensus picks).
