Syracuse recruit Jalen Carey injures hand; won't play in Jordan Brand Classic

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse recruit Jalen Carey injured his right hand in a weight-training accident on Thursday, according to his father.

Carey, a 6-foot-3 guard from Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, N.J., was set to take part in the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic on Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

John Carey said his son would still attend the Jordan Brand Classic, but he would not participate in the game.

"It was a freak accident,'' John Carey said Friday. "He's OK. Everything's going to be good.''

Carey said his son injured a finger on his right hand while lifting weights.
