Syracuse paid Daryl Gross nearly $1 million for 6 months of work in 2016

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Former Syracuse University athletic director Daryl Gross earned more than $1 million in compensation from SU in 2016 despite leaving the university less than halfway through the year.

Gross began 2016 serving as a vice president and special assistant to the chancellor. Gross kept a low profile in that position. He was seldom seen or heard in public and was not publicly connected by the university with any projects. He also taught one class in the David Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.

In late June of 2016, Gross accepted a new job as athletic director at California State University-Los Angeles.
