Syracuse, N.Y. - Dennis DuVal never expected to get emotional.
DuVal, the former Syracuse University great, had his No. 22 jersey retired during a ceremony at halftime of Syracuse's game against Notre Dame at the Carrier Dome.
It was a day that DuVal said he never expected when he arrived on the SU campus, but his 44-year wait made it all the more special.
"It's kinda hard to explain,'' said DuVal, who then paused as he appeared to get choked up.
"I didn't want to get emotional, but ... it's been a long time,'' DuVal said.
