Syracuse football WR Taj Harris, RB Jarveon Howard play at Pitt (redshirt watch)

Syracuse, N.Y. -- With the NCAA passing new redshirt legislature this summer, allowing players to participate in up to four games without using one of their four seasons of eligibility, we'll be keeping a closer eye on how Syracuse football utilizes its first-year players during the 2018 season.

As the year progresses, it will be worth monitoring non-freshmen who could make use of the rule as well.

During the Orange's 44-37 overtime loss at Pittsburgh, six true freshmen saw action, including two who surpassed that four-game threshold.

Here's a quick breakdown of where the group stands:

Who played (games played)

LS Aaron Bolinsky (1)

FS Andre Cisco (6)

WR Taj Harris (6)

RB Jarveon Howard (6)

LB Juan Wallace (6)

CB Trill Williams (6)

Others who have played this year

TE Gabe Horan (1)

OL Carlos Vettorello (2)

Analysis

This was expected, but Harris and Howard officially will not redshirt this year.
