Syracuse, N.Y. -- Matthew Bergeron attended one college camp in the United States and a month later, he's certain it was worth the trip.
Bergeron, an offensive lineman from Quebec, Canada, was discovered by the Syracuse football staff at a one-day camp in June. On Monday, he committed to the Orange.
"We met at the camp I did in June and (offensive line) coach (Mike) Cavanaugh really loved me," Bergeron said of SU. "So after the camp, I started talking with them. About one month later, they called me and offered me a scholarship."
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound 18-year-old is relatively unknown in the college football recruiting community -- a disadvantage that he understands comes with his location -- but he has aspired to play in the professional ranks since beginning his football career nine years ago.
