Syracuse, N.Y. -- Class of 2018 defensive end Fitzroy Gardner signed with Iowa Western Community College during a ceremony at Armwood (Seffner, Fla.) High School on Wednesday.
Gardner, however, is still hoping to meet the NCAA's academic qualification standards in time to enroll at a four-year college this summer. He and the Orange coaching staff have been discussing potential enrollment timelines since the weeks leading up to his official visit two weekends ago.
Bob Putnam of the Tampa Bay Times reported on Wednesday that SU is holding a scholarship for Gardner, citing the Armwood coaching staff.
