Syracuse football quarterback Eric Dungey out of boot

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football quarterback Eric Dungey is no longer wearing a boot on his right foot, multiple sources told Syracuse.com.

Dungey, a rising senior, underwent surgery about two months ago for the injury that kept him out of the Orange's final three games of 2017. He has yet to begin throwing during player-led winter workouts and his status for spring practice remains unclear.

When he does return, Dungey will face his stiffest preseason competition yet for the starting job. Redshirt freshman Tommy DeVito projects to receive the bulk of the first-team reps this spring if Dungey does not practice or is limited.
