Syracuse football freshman WR Ed Hendrix out for season after undergoing surgery

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football freshman wide receiver Ed Hendrix will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery for a lower-body injury on Wednesday, SU Athletics told Syracuse.com.

The procedure was performed by team physician Dr. Todd Battaglia.

Hendrix arrived this summer as one of the Orange's most highly touted first-year players. The H.D. Woodson High School product was rated the No. 3 overall prospect from Washington, D.C. last cycle and earned first-team opportunities from Day 1 of preseason camp.

However, an apparent knee injury limited him toward the end of camp. He did not dress for any of the team's first three games.
