Syracuse Football: Doug Marrone gets a 2nd lease on life

Despite early reports that former Syracuse football head coach Doug Marrone was going to be fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars, it appears he’s safe after all.

Sources told ESPN’s Dianna Russini that Marrone would be released after the team’s final game. However, the organization quickly refuted the reports:

“Reports that Doug Marrone will be dismissed after Sunday’s game are 100 percent incorrect,” a spokesman said in the statement. “Owner Shad Khan will meet with his football staff, which includes coaching and personnel, midweek next week” per ESPN.

Tuesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars website reported that Doug Marrone would continue to lead the team in 2020.
