Syracuse basketball coaches will host 2026 five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. from New York City on an official visit this weekend, as I first reported over the summer.
It's a big-time chance for the Orange staff to wow the nation's No. 1 point guard in the senior class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Undeniably, the 'Cuse faces steep competition to prevail for Rippey, and analysts are trying to decipher which teams are out in front for the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based floor general.
Based on my ongoing conversations with Rippey's dad, and other intel I have from various sources, the sense I'm getting is that his recruitment remains open, and Syracuse basketball has a legit shot to win out here.
