Syracuse, N.Y. — Before he uttered a word about the recurring 3-point shots, before he ever mentioned the rebounding or the defense or the valiant effort Colgate displayed Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome, Mike Hopkins took a breath and made a pointed observation:
"We have a day off tomorrow," SU's interim head coach said. "And these guys, I think, really need it. Obviously after the Bahamas and the tough game against Wisconsin and then Georgetown, they put a lot of energy out and are fighting to the end. Came out today and I was proud of them; they had to play a lot of minutes.
