Orange Outlast Big Red, 72-53

SYRACUSE, N.Y – Elijah Hughes' season-high 22 points lifted Syracuse (3-1, 0-1 ACC) over Cornell (1-4), 72-53 on Wednesday night in the Carrier Dome. The Orange now lead the all-time series against their New York foe, 94-91.

3-point shooting played an integral part of the third straight 'Cuse victory. The Orange made 10 shots from behind the arc and the Big Red finished with six. Syracuse ended the night shooting 25-53 from the field.

After Cornell senior Thurston McCarty's 3-pointer to open the scoring, Syracuse grabbed the next 10 points and took a 16-9 lead into the first timeout.
