Jimmy Boeheim, home on school break, explains decision to play basketball at Cornell

Syracuse, N.Y. - Jimmy Boeheim, home on break from New Hampton School, sat with his family behind the Syracuse basketball bench Wednesday night and watched the Orange defeat UNC-Greensboro in its first game in the NIT.

Boeheim, the eldest son of SU coach Jim Boeheim and his wife, Juli, recently announced via Twitter that he would play college basketball at Cornell next season. A former Jamesville-DeWitt star, the 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward said he chose the Big Red for a combination of reasons.

"I just talked to my family and my coaches (at New Hampton) and it was kind of like preferred that I wanted to stay home," Boeheim said.
