Syracuse, N.Y. — Maurice Joseph, the older brother of former Syracuse basketball forward Kris Joseph, has been named the head basketball coach at George Washington University.
Joseph, 31, takes over for Mike Lonergan, who was dismissed Sept. 17 following a Washington Post story that detailed Longeran's insensitive behavior toward his players and his denigration of his own athletic director. Joseph, a former player at Michigan State and Vermont, had been an assistant coach at GW for five seasons.
