Boeheim's Army knew Demetris Nichols' 3-pointer was going in: 'It's like a layup for him'

Brooklyn, N.Y. -- For Demetris Nichols, there was no hesitation, no consideration.

When he caught the ball on the right wing here at LIU-Brooklyn with a chance to win The Basketball Tournament game and advance Boeheim's Army to the Super 16, he was shooting it.

Boeheim's Army needed three points to secure a win, to survive and advance under Elam Ending rules. Nobody else, not one other Army team member, had made a 3-pointer all Sunday afternoon.

"Of course, I wanted it," Nichols said. "Of course. Even if somebody was on me, I would have shot it.
